THE CLOCK

Holy Trinity's church clock is a splendid example of a mid 19th century Birdcage Turret clock built in 1858 by local clock builders Robert Savery.
The clock chimed for the first time on 16th June 1858.
The full description of the clock mechanism would be: a Three Train, Posted Frame, Deadbeat Escapement, Birdcage style, Turret clock.
The clock had not been working prior to 1987 and The Revd Michael Currah (a retired priest at Holy Trinity) was instrumental in restoring the clock to its full working order by June 1997.
The clock is presently being looked after by Mr J P Godley of Taunton.
For further details about the clock please contact Mr Godley via the Church Office.
